Back to Godhead, the magazine of the Hare Krishna Movement, was started in 1944 by the Founder of ISKCON, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Srila Prabhupada considered Back to Godhead the foundation of his spiritual mission because it was his first significant attempt to fulfil his spiritual master's desire that Krishna consciousness be spread all over the world.

Struggling alone in India, Prabhupada was able to print Back to Godhead only intermittently. However, he revived it in New York in 1967 with the help of his American followers. The magazine has been coming out regularly ever since then.

Back to Godhead covers a range of topics related to Krishna consciousness, especially in the categories of sambandha (realizing our relationship with Krishna) and abidheya (acting in that relationship). The writers and staff are all committed to continuing the work left by Srila Prabhupada of regularly publishing a Krishna conscious magazine. This full colour magazine is published six times a year.
