Vision

Bhaktivedanta College promotes the spiritual and cultural heritage of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, brought from India to the West by the Founder of ISKCON, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. The College has a systematic program of education and training, with special emphasis on personal application and character development.

Program

Bhaktivedanta College is in partnership with University of Wales Lampeter, which offers a Bachelors Degree in Vaishnava Theology.

Three strands

1. Theology and philosophy Enable students to gain a deeper understanding of the Vaishnava tradition, as well as other philosophies and theologies. Areas covered are:

  • Comparative religion
  • Vaishnava Vedanta
  • Introduction to applied sociology
  • Sanskrit for scriptural study
  • The six orthodox philosophical systems of India
  • Readings in classical and medieval philosophy
  • Introduction to ethics

2. Ministerial and vocational modules Impart to students the basic practical skills necessary for teaching, leading temples and congregations, mentoring, and presenting Vaishnavism to diverse audiences. Areas covered are:

  • Interfaith
  • Communications
  • Teacher training I & II
  • Congregational development
  • Leadership and management
  • Teacher training for bhakti-sastri

Communication Seminar 3. Introspection and devotion modules Encourage reflection on experiences gained from the course to enable students to develop an ethos of honesty and spiritual integrity.

Organisation

The College is associated with ISKCON through the GBC Ministry of Educational Development and has a board of trustees, a college principal, and a faculty council.
