Radhadesh is situated in a beautiful location in the Ourthe valley. The Ourthe winds its way across the folds in the Ardennes plateau, cutting a deep course, before widening out in the plains, then flowing into the Meuse at Liege. A long-distance marked footpath (170km long) crosses the valley running from Angleur near Liege to Houffalize in the province of Luxembourg. The area is a great place for sports enthusiasts, with ample opportunities for kayaking, climbing, biking, and walking.
Please check the opening times for the museums, castles, and other attractions, as most of them are closed during the winter season, and other have very specific opening times during the summer.
Durbuy (5 km away): This beautiful town lies in a forested region and is one of the Ardennes most pleasant holiday resorts. This tiny settlement, promoted to the rank of town in 1331, has retained its old character with its maze of medieval streets, the 17C castle, the old stone bridge, and the half-timbered corn market. The charming streets and stone houses, where many craftsmen and artists live, blend in well with the natural beauty of the site, at the foot of a spur of rock from which a spectacular geological fold, the Falize, can be seen.
Barvaux (7 km away): Another tourist center in the Ourthe valley. The river flows past the foot of the famous Rochers de Glawans downstream from here. Although not as scenic as Durbuy, Barvaux does have a reasonable number of shops with basic goods.
Comblain-au-pont (22 km away): This small town lies at the confluence of the Ourthe and the Amblève, overlooked by an impressive cliff. There is an interesting tower-chapel on the hill overlooking the town which has a small park with modern art pieces between the avenues of mature beech trees. The Grottes de Comblain is a cave 1 km to the west on a little hill.
Chateau de Modave (15 km away): a beautiful castle dating back to the 13C.
La Roche-en-Ardennes (27 km away) Sights: Long wooded spurs separated by deep valleys converge on this well-known tourist center, famed for the beauty of its setting, in a loop of the river Ourthe. The river forms a wide stretch of water here (canoeing and pedaloes). Numerous sign-posted footpaths have been set up in the area around Landmarks Roche. There are several sights here, including the ruins of an 11C chateau, a museum, a beautiful chapel, and forest park. There is also a viewing point that give a superb panoramic view of the town. Upstream from La Roche-en-Ardennes the river is more like a torrent, gushing through wild and beautiful countryside.
Excursions: East of La Roche-en-Ardennes there are several places where one can get a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. These places include Belvédère des Six Ourthe, Le Hérou, and Point de Vue des Crestelles.
Erezée (14 km away): The charming scenic tramway, Tramway Touristique de l’Aisne, follows the Aisne Valley from the Pont d’Erezee (bridge) up through the rugged valley to the village of Forge à l'Aplez.
Grottes de Hotton (11 km away): This beautiful network of caves is well worth a visit. There is a great variety of concretions, pools, and passageways to explore which are both mysterious and striking. The town of Hotton is situated on the river Ourthe. There is an 18C watermill upstream on the Erezée road. There is a fair on the banks of the river in the summer. And the river itself is a great place to relax and swim.
Rochefort (29 km away): This little town situated in a national park is a good base for holidays and excursions into the surrounding region. Grotte de Lorette is an impressive set of caves on the edge of the town and is well worth a visit.
