Special Award

Rupa Manjari giving a tour of the castle Rupa Manjari Devi Dasi, a long-time resident of Radhadesh, received an excellence award in 2009 from ISKCON’s Euro GBC. She was being recognized for her tireless service to the distribution of Krishna conscious books in the Benelux. Her service of helping prisoners find the spiritual path by visiting them and giving them books was particularly mentioned.

We would like to congratulate Rupa Manjari Devi Dasi on this great achievement and encourage her to continue this important work.

Background Information

ISKCON has a global prison ministry aimed at helping people in prisons around the world, providing opportunities and guidance for inmates to practice Krishna consciousness. Devotees worldwide write to inmates, visit prisons, and donate books to prison libraries.

League of devotees project in Jansi, India In 1962, before going to America, Srila Prabhupada wrote a goal in the prospectus for his League of Devotees (the precursor to ISKCON): “To take charge of moral upliftment by spiritual process even for the criminals and prisoners of state, and to accept all kinds of help and facilities from the police and government concerned.”
