Annemie Struyf's New Series Starts on Monday

Annemie Struyf

In God's Name

A new six part series, ‘In God’s Name,’ starts on Monday 25th January on Eén (Flemish television).

During the course of the series, Annemie Struyf meets practitioners from all the main religious traditions, including those at the Hindu Hare Krishna community of Radhadesh. While spending time with people who have chosen to follow a religious path different to the one they were born into, Annemie spends several weeks experiencing life in ashrams, monasteries, and temples.

In the first program Annemie meets those involved with Al Minara – a Flemish organization that takes care of those that convert to Islam. There she meets Safiya and Ali, a young confident Muslim couple.

The other programs include:

  • A visit to Japan, where Annemie visits the young mendicant Jan. Jan searches for an answer to his questions of life in the ascetic tradition of Japanese Zen Buddhism.
  • Annemie living for a while with the female Trappists in the monastery of Brecht. This is the first time a camera crew has gained permission to break the silence in the convent.
  • Meeting Toon from Antwerp, who has moved to Susya, in Israel. It is a Orthodox Jewish settlement in Palestinian territory that hosts Dutch people who have converted to Judaism. In Susya Annemie finds out why they moved to the promised land.
  • Going to the Belgian Ardennes where one of the biggest Hare Krishna communities of Europe is located. With great enthusiasm they introduce Annemie to their colorful Hindu ceremonies.
  • Meeting Cathy, a successful business lady who leaves everything to start a new life in Bali. Together with Annemie she departs to the ashram of her guru. There she is confronted with a strange unexpected world.

‘In God’s Name’ introduces viewers to monks, nuns, gurus and healers, sages and saints. It is the result of an amazing quest in the world of the faithful.
