Two Chances to Celebrate Krishna Janmastami

Date:
August 29, 2010 - 10:00 - September 2, 2010 - 01:30

All merciful Radha-Gopinatha! In Radhadesh we celebrate Sri Krishna Janmastami twice. We celebrate it on the official calendar day (which this year is on the 2nd September) and we also have a special cultural day on the weekend (before or after depending on circumstances) so that visitors and pilgrims can receive the mercy of Lord Krishna at this important time of the year.

Cultural Festival

Sunday, 29th August

We start the day with the regular morning program (04.30–09.00) which everyone is welcome to attend. Activities around the temple grounds will start around 11:00. Throughout the day there will be many festivities to celebrate the appearance of Lord Shri Krishna.*

This glorious festival is a great day to come together and celebrate with as many people as possible. We would like to invite everyone to this lovely and exuberant celebration – to have darshan of the Lord, to take part in the swing festival of the temple’s small deties of Radha and Krishna, and to enjoy spiritual music and dance. There will be a free vegetarian meal (offered as prasadamseva) for all those who come!.

Since it is the 30th anniversary of Radhadesh we have invited the famous Indian singer Rakesh Kala to perform during the cultural program. Rakesh is a bhajan singer with very beautiful songs about the protection of cows, the importance of the Bhagavad-gita, and the lila pastimes of baby Krishna. The stage program is from 1 till 5.30pm.

You are invited to participate in the special Janmastami Support Program on the occassion of Sri Krishna Janmastami. Your donation will be used for buying flowers, rice, sugar, ghee and so on.

Please bring along your family and friends to have a special day with Lord Krishna and His devotees.

Calendar Date

Thursday, 2nd September

On the actual appearance day the program starts at 04.30 and continues until midnight (the time of the appearance of the Lord) when a feast will be served. The program during the day is concentrated mainly in the morning and later afternoon (until midnight). Activities will include several ways to help us meditate on the Lord, such as nama japa (chanting Krishna's names), abhishek (bathing ceremony for the Deities), and so on. Join us on this very beautiful spiritual occasion which will deepen our relationship with the Supreme!

There is no festival fee on either day.

Everyone Welcome!
